As mentioned earlier, Dharm is not religion but it’s completely different from religions. Hindus, Muslims, Sikh, Christians, etc., could be religions but they are not Dharm. These are the names of the group of people who collectively follow a few rules to live their lives. Therefore, they should be called as communities but not Dharm.
All the communities, living on the different parts of the globe, are governed by a few rules. A few of these rules are derived from the Dharm while the rest are made for the bliss of those who create these rules. However, if everyone gets to learn Dharm, there won’t be a need for any rule book. It is because Dharm will provide the people an understanding of taking the right decision in every walk of life. Dharm doesn’t force you to follow any rules but it makes you intelligent enough to do the right things in life.
Now the question is, where will you learn the Dharm from. It’s very easy. The God has already saved the knowledge of Dharm inside the scriptures that were taken care of by Hindus earlier. This is the only relation between Hindus and Dharm. Hindus were given the responsibility to preserve these scriptures and make them widely available for entire humankind. Hindus were given the responsibility to make every human being aware of the meaning of Dharm. They were appointed to teach the concepts and logics of Dharm. But because Hindus themselves have stopped studying these scriptures, they can’t preserve them for long. A perfect example of the Dharmik downfall of Hindus is their interpretation of Dharm as religion. If you ask any Hindu the English meaning of Dharm, they would immediately say, “It’s religion”. If they would know the Dharm, they would clearly say that there is no single word for Dharm in English. It’s not only about English, there is no single word in any language that can define Dharm. Dharm is not a common noun but it’s a proper noun which has to be studied thoroughly.
I studied a couple of Dharm Granth such as Shrimad BhagwadGeeta, Shri Ram Charit Manas, and Shrimad Bhagwad Maha Puran. These books and many more like them including 18 Puran, 4 Ved, and Ramayan are filled with the knowledge of Dharm. But because Hindus have been polluted mentally, it’s time for other communities to learn and understand Dharm and preserve these scriptures. They are important to be preserved because they are for the welfare of the all living beings. And the best way to preserve them is to keep them in each house and teach them to every human being from childhood.
As most Hindus have stopped studying and following Dharm, their end is nearing. Therefore, those Hindus, who still understand Dharm, should create a way to make the knowledge of Dharm to reach the people of other communities too. I have also created this website to make the actual essence of the Dharm to be available for the people worldwide. Thus, I am doing my part for the welfare of entire humankind. By doing this, I am fulfilling my accountability towards my relationship as a Hindu with the Dharm.
Let me now put some light on the meaning of the Dharm. However, it is important to understand that the points mentioned here don’t limit Dharm to themselves. The Dharm is vast, it is universal that’s why it is called “Sanatan”. You should study Shrimad BhagwadGeeta and Shri Ram Charit Manas, to learn more about the Dharm. However, you must be fully faithful to the God, to gain the complete understanding of these God-books.
Here are a few points that could give a basic understanding of the Dharm. And Remember Dharm is neither religion nor “Majhab”.
- Dharm is to have compassion for those who are not as powerful as you are.
- Dharm is to be on the path of truth, irrespective of its consequences.
- If someone does something that is against Dharm, standing and fighting against him/her is also Dharm.
- Dharm doesn’t allow anyone to harm others for their bliss and unnecessary needs.
- Kindness is also Dharm. Kindness is being compassionate for all living beings. Kindness is understanding the problems of others and keeping concern for them. People should not be kind to their family members only, they should also be kind to other people. Kindness should not be limited to humans only, but you should be kind to other animals too. Brutality towards other animals is strictly against Dharm.
- Dharm teaches to be respectful to others and their beliefs. One should not disrespect others due to their social status, financial status, academic qualification, job profile, religious belief, or any other materialistic reason. Yes, they should not be respected who disrespect others due aforementioned reasons.
- Dharm is to be non-violent. However, killing violent people and Adharmi people is also Dharm.
- Dharm is not to do anything which is profitable for one and harmful for others. Anything, which is beneficial for everyone, should only be done.
- Dharm suggests that If someone has done something bad to you, you should only punish him/her for that but not to his/her family. In the same way, if a few people of a community had done wrong to you, you should only punish those people but not to the innocents of the community.
- Whatever has been written here is not even 1% of what Dharm is. Dharm is vast and can be attired through the study of Bhagwad Granths related to Shri Ram, Shri Krishna, Mahadev, and other incarnations of God that were worshiped in ancient India. Studying them leads to develop skills which make you capable of identifying the legitimacy of everyone’s statement/action. These scriptures make you wise and courageous enough to do the right thing, irrespective of its consequences. Dharm awards people with the wisdom to make the right decision instead of forcing you to follow a rule-book.
Here are a few qualities of the people who hold Dharm within them. Though these are only less than 1% qualities of Dharmik people.
- Dharmik people don’t want others to suffer in life.
- They wish for the happiness of others as well as themselves.
- They don’t want to dominate others for any reason.
- They are ready to fight against those who are a threat to other living beings.
- They don’t behave egotistically with others.
- They respects and take care of their old-aged-parents.
- They treats all old-aged-people like his/her parents.
- They stand against those who are on the side of Adharm, irrespective of their relationship with Adharmi people.
- They don’t keep ill-thoughts for others’ women.
- They treat their elder brother as father.
- They treat their elder sister as a mother.
- They love and care for their children more than their own life.
- They love the children of others the same as of their own children.
- They treat their younger brother/sisters as children.
- They treat their sister-In-law respectfully.
- They know that God is known with different names like Shiv, Krishna, Ram, Bhagwan and many more.
- They work for the happiness of other creatures instead of trying to dominate them.
- They fulfill all their responsibilities faithfully.
- They look after nature, the way they look after their house/property.
There is a lot about Dharm and Dharmik people. So keep studying the Ved, Puran, Bhagwad Geeta, Ramayan, and the Dharm section of the “Gupt Alok”.
