A Dharm Granth is a book with the knowledge of Dharm and God. These books are rich with the knowledge and understanding that can eradicate crime and wrongdoings completely from the society. The Dharm Granths do it by making people move on the path of sacrificing everything except Dharm and God. Therefore, the people, who study Dharm Granth, are least focused on sacrificing others’ lives, happiness, and other things for their bliss and luxury. On the other hand, religious books make people move on the path of sacrificing the humanity and focus on establishing the supremacy of themselves, their community, and their beliefs. The sense of trying to establish the supremacy of a community is the main reason for all the crimes and wrongdoings. This is because such people are highly focused on sacrificing everything else, except themselves and their loving things/beings, for their own bliss and luxury. The study of Dharm Granth rises the humans mindset to a level that makes them think and act for the welfare of every living beings instead of focusing on increasing the population of their community by means of illegitimate reproduction and killings of the people of other communities.
Though there can’t be any comparison of a Dharm Granth with any other book. However, the basic difference between a Dharm Granth and religious book is that the religious book restricts you to study Dharm Granth while the Dharm Granth don’t even talk about religious books. Another difference is that the religious books are focused on establishing a different identify of humans among other humans while the Dharm Granth are focused on teaching Dharm to all the humans without separating them as different identities. It can be proved by the fact that there is no where in any Dharm Granth written the word Hindu. The Dharm Granth are focused on making the lives of all humans better without offering them a separate identity than others.
Dharm Granth were written for the welfare of all the creatures by teaching the Dharm to humans. There are plenty of Dharm Granth which should be studied thoroughly by all the humans, irrespective of their community or religion. As these scriptures are preserved by Hindus, therefore most people think that these are only for Hindus and written by Hindus. It is not true, these Dharm Granth are based on the teachings of different human incarnations of the God to make the lives of humans better. The creators of these scriptures did not belong to any religion but they were the Gurus or the teachers of the Dharm.
To begin your study of Dharm Granth, you should start with smaller ones. Below are their names and a short description about them.
Shrimad BhagwadGeeta
The BhagwadGeeta is the part of the Mahabharat where Shri Krishna preaches the knowledge of Dharm to Arjun. BhagwadGeeta is a Granth that gives you the option to study the Dharm in the words of the God himself.

In this, Bhagwan Krishna teaches the concept and understanding of Dharm which make the lives of humans so good that one can’t imagine. The only thing to be taken care of by the people, while studying BhagwadGeeta, is to surrender themselves to Shri Krishna. If you don’t accept Krishna ji as the Supreme universal power and your guru doubtlessly, you might not understand full essence of the BhagwadGeeta.
Shri Ram Charit Manas and Shri Ramayan
These scriptures are based on the life events of the human incarnation of the God – Shri Ram. By studying them, you’ll learn the art of making the righteous decisions in your life. You’ll learn how to live a life that ensures the welfare of every living being. However, you might not understand the real essence of the Ram Katha unless you doubtlessly accept Shri Ram as the God or the Supreme power.

Remember, you cannot understand the aforementioned Granth by reading them once or twice or ten times. You’ll have to read them every day, over and over, faithfully, until your last day on the earth.
Apart from these two, there are 18 Puran and 4 Ved which can be studied for the knowledge of Dharm. Here is the list of 18 Puran and 4 Ved:
Puran
The eighteen Puran are based on the different incarnations and plays of the God. Many of them might feature God with different names but their ultimate goal is to teach the Dharm to humans. The different names of the God, in Puran, also suggest that God can have multiple names, forms, and appearance. Ultimately, God is the Supreme power, therefore he can be anything, he can do anything.
