I got a chance to visit and dip in the Sangam Prayagraj during the past weekend on the occasion of Mahakumbh 2025.
Sangam GhatIt was a wonderful, once-in-a-lifetime experience. Though I was there for a single day only, I could still bring a lot of positivity from the Mahakumbh festival. This festival is in place for this purpose only; to love nature and understand the truth. These two things are enough to fill the people with positivity and righteousness.
I reached Prayagraj by train and to the Kumbh Mela area by the government shuttle which charged 20 per person. The bus dropped us outside of the Kumbh Mela premises. We walked from there passing by the Kachchhap Dwar, the Nandi Dwar, and the Sangam Dwar.
Mahakumbh Mela EntryIt took us around 1:30 hours to reach the Sangam Ghat where we had to take a dip.
The banks of the river were clean so was the water because cleaning staff was deployed there.

Beautiful Sangam WaterThey ensured to pick up the smallest piece of garbage as soon as it fell on the ground or in the water.

Clean seating area near Sangam GhatWe dropped our bags right at the riverbank and stared at the water and the people in it. Those who were inside the water were playing with it and a few of them were offering the water to Sun.
People Celebrating in the Sangam WaterOn the other hand, the devotees at the bank were either worshiping the river or getting ready to get in the water.
After staring at the beauty of that place and the event for a few minutes, I walked into the water. It was chilling cold so I came out of it. I tried again to get in, and this time I took a dip in the water. During the dip, I drank a little bit of water and it was really clean water. After that, I also offered water and prayers to the Sun and came out of the river.
Offering Love to Sun in the Form of WaterI dried myself with the help of a towel and dressed up. I was feeling fresh and rejuvenated; good thoughts were running in my mind. They were the thoughts of universal welfare and submission to the supreme power. With that feeling, I bought some puffed rice and sweeteners and offered them to mothers – Ganga, Yamuna, and Sarasvati. The overall ambiance of the Sangam Ghat was so pious that I didn’t want to leave from there.

Peaceful River ViewHowever, we could not sit there for long because we had to visit the Hanuman Ji temple.
We walked from the Sangam Ghat for about one kilometre to reach the bade Hanuman temple. We bought some Laddus to offer to Lord Hanuman Ji and also took off our shoes there. There were multiple long queues and Sun was on our head at 1:00 PM. Therefore, we had to take off our woolens. Even after so much crowd and heat, the chants of ‘Jai Shree Ram’ didn’t stop as they were giving energy to the people.

Queues outside Lete Hanuman Ji's TempleAfter waiting for around 30 minutes, we got a chance to have a sight of the Lord. We offered Prasad there and came out of the temple. It was a satisfying experience.
After coming out, we headed towards the shop where we left our shoes. The shop had been removed as it was not in the designated area but on the road. With the removal of that shop, our shoes had also been removed from there. I got my shoes at a bit of a distance but my wife couldn’t find her new shoes. However, she didn’t feel bad and decided to walk naked feet instead of wearing the shoes of someone else. She said that she lost her shoes that doesn’t mean she would trouble others by stealing their shoes. This is the positivity that I have been talking about since the beginning of this article. It’s not that she just didn’t want to trouble others but she didn’t even get troubled herself. She said that God wants her to walk naked feet to enjoy nature that’s why her shoes were lost. She said that it wasn’t a problem.
After that, we headed towards the Kachchhap Dwar and there we had food which was being distributed for free.

(Bhandara) Free Food Distribution Stall We finished the lunch and headed towards the river. We sat there on the clean ground staring at the ground and the water and spent a couple of hours there.

Clean SurfacesIn the evening, we went to the riverbank, sought blessings from the Mother Rivers, and moved towards the railway station.
Evening View of Mother RiversAs we had to take the train from Subedargunj railway station, we needed a transport option as it was far from Prayagraj junction. We walked around 4.5 kilometres but didn’t get any transport option to reach the railway station. After that we got a battery rickshaw which dropped us at the railway station for INR150 for two people.
The Subedargunj railway station has also been developed beautifully, just look at the video below.
SubedarGunj Railway Station, PrayagrajOur train came at 10:15 PM, and we boarded and headed back to Delhi.
