A Glimpse of Pure Devotion at Keshi Ghat, Vrindavan

I recently got a chance to visit Vrindavan – the land of Shri Krishna. At Keshi Ghat, I saw a young girl with her brother who was to take a dip into Yamuna Ji. The girl seemed to be eye-challenged and therefore her younger brother had held her hand to protect her. The way that boy was holding the hand of his elder sister was selfless and careful. The way he was protecting her with his small hands showed that he knew his Dharm for his sister. It also showed that his small hands and small body couldn’t stop him from following his Dharm.

The Tale of Pure Devotion

You know what? This was just the trailer, and their real show was still pending. After bathing themselves, it was the turn of their Laddu Gopal (Baby Krishna) to take a dip into Yamuna Ji. Now it was the turn of the Girl child to protect her Gopal Ji just as the boy protected her. The kids went out of the river, changed their clothes, and brought their Laddu Gopal along. The girl closed the nostrils of Kanhaiya Ji using her thumb and index finger and made him sit on her left hand. She made him dip multiple times giving him time to breathe while taking out of the water. On the other hand, her brother was firmly holding her hand so that she wouldn’t fall in the water. The duo was unaware of what others were doing or thinking. They were just busy following their Dharm fearlessly.

Keeping the Devotion a Secret

The other thing was that they completed the task so secretly that most of the people didn’t notice what the kids were doing. I saw them because the Lord, perhaps, wanted me to see an example of real bhakti. I have seen many people roaming around, flaunting their Laddu Gopal but this duo was not flaunting their Kanaha Ji. They were instead secretly making their Gopal Ji explore the Vrindavan which is the most loved place of Shri Krishna. This beautiful incident made me a fan of these kids. It made me realize that this is how we should treat our God.

Let’s now talk about the details on how to reach Vrindavan.

How to Reach Vrindavan

I first went to Mathura and then Govardhan and then Vrindavan. After we completed the Govardhan Parikrama, we walked to the bus stand and took a bus to Vrindavan Dham. The bus fare was ₹45 per person and it dropped us at our destination in 30-45 minutes.

Staying in Vrindavan

After reaching Vrindavan, we decided to book a hotel for our night stay as we were tired. The bus was passing by the crossing that leads to Prem Mandir. We alighted from the bus and walked a bit in search of a hotel nearby. We saw a board there which was about the information of a hotel in that street. It was right next to the Rikmini Vihar Multilevel Car Parking where Yashoda Nandan Dham is situated. We booked two hotel rooms for ₹1250 per night per room with four people’s accommodation in each room.

Visiting Prem Mandir

A few people in our group wanted to visit the Prem Mandir, so we went there. I was tired and the temple was highly crowded, that’s why I couldn’t see anything there. I sat down in a corner and left from there when all the group members were done with the photography.

Banke Bihari Ji’s Darshan

I woke up early in the morning and disturbed everyone’s sleep by saying that we would leave at 06:00 AM. They all readied on time but we left for Banke Bihari Ji temple at around 07:00 AM. We left at seven because the temple opens at 07:30 AM. The auto rickshaw charged ₹20 per person and dropped us a few hundred meters away from the temple. I felt a soothing smell there which was of a flower garland. I bought it for Banke Bihari ji and walked to be queued for the temple entry. It was crowded but it took only about 15 minutes to reach the temple premises. As soon as we entered the temple, we could see the mesmerizing face of Shri Bihari Ji. We continued staring at God’s face until we were thrown out of the temple by the crowd. We felt satisfied, blessed, and top of the world but the same crowd has started bothering me now. So, we quickly left from there and walked towards Nidhi Van.

Walking in the Vrindavan Streets

I have heard people saying that walking in the narrow streets of Vrindavan is a great thing to do. I always wondered what could be so special in these streets that people are so fond of them. Though, nobody could give me an answer, perhaps, because they also don’t know the reason. Perhaps, they have heard others saying this statement and that’s why they also just go on saying it. Anyways, I found the reason when I got lost in those streets while walking towards Nidhi Van.

Gems in the Vrindavan Streets

When you walk on these streets, you find there plenty of temples which offer peace and blessings. You don’t just need to walk on the streets but also enter these temples and sit there for a while. You can even just stand in front of the temple and experience the look and feel of that place. I also passed by such a temple. It was a MeeraBai Temple at Govind Bagh – A very peaceful and enlightening place. The best part was that there was another gem near the same temple. Below is a glimpse of that gem:

After this, we went to Nidhi Van and then headed towards Keshi Ghat. We bathed in Yamuna Ji for more than an hour and what we saw there has already been explained above.

Returning From Vrindavan

We went to Vrindavan Bus Stand from Keshi Ghat. There is a Samosa seller in front of the Bus Stand, so we ate Samosas there. They were delicious and therefore we got some of them packed for us to eat at the Railway Station. The bus was about to leave so we boarded the bus and it dropped us at Mathura Railways station in an hour. The bus fare was ₹35 per person. We were at the Railway station two hours early, so we rested there, and when our train came, we boarded that. We reached home in Delhi at around 10:30 PM.
